PROPOSAL

Acoustic Breadth

Analysis 2: Alternative Flooring System

In addition to weighing the construction benefits of the proposed flooring system, the change in acoustics will also be analyzed. One drawback of polished concrete is that is not very acoustically absorbent, causing it to create echoes in a quiet space. This shortcoming will be measured and considered in the overall selection of which flooring system to use.

Enclosure Breadth

Analysis 3: Prefabricated Building Enclosure

In addition to weighing the construction benefits of the proposed prefabricated building enclosure, the change of thermal properties must be evaluated as well. This analysis will determine how well the prefabricated panels stack up to the traditional stick-built system.

MAE Integration

Analysis 1: Zone Redistribution (Interior Finishes)

This analysis will take an in-depth look at SIPS and productivity, both of which are key concepts covered in AE 570: Production Management in Construction. The class, taught by Dr. David Riley, has given abundant insight on techniques to successfully manage work flow, as well as other on other topics.
